Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw shared a 138-run partnership in the first match of IPL 2021 against CSK and it proved to be the third largest opening partnership for Delhi in the IPL. For Delhi, the record of the first largest opening partnership in IPL is in the name of Virender Sehwag and Mahela Jayawardene, while the second number is Sehwag and David Warner. 

With the help of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw, the Delhi Capitals defeated Chennai by 7 wickets in their first match of the 14th season of IPL. After losing the toss at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium to bat first, Chennai Super Kings scored a respectable score of 188 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. After this, due to the batting of Dhawan and Prithvi, Delhi easily achieved this target in 18.4 overs. Dhawan scored 85 runs and Prithvi played a stormy innings of 72 runs. At the same time, Raina scored the highest 54 runs from Chennai.

Fact – Chennai have suffered defeat in the last three matches against Delhi in the IPL. This is the first time in the history of IPL when the Chennai team has lost to Delhi three times in a row.
